We are currently looking for a Transport Planner (minimum 3 years of experience) with a passion for development related transport planning. The successful candidate will join our clients’ busy team working on a wide range of projects in the South West and across the UK.  Their strong and diverse client base means that no one day is the same and staff advise on an extensive portfolio of projects which includes mixed-use regeneration, residential, employment, logistics, retail, leisure and education. As a Transport Planner you will manage projects and communicate directly with clients to provide advice on transport and highway matters.  You will also be involved in liaising and negotiating with local highway authority officers and other government bodies to achieve successful outcomes for our clients

  • Feasibility studies and initial site access appraisals – especially of constrained sites
  • Site layout planning – including junction and access road design
  • Vehicle swept path analysis
  • Highway officer negotiations
  • Public consultation
  • Accessibility and Sustainability studies
  • Preliminary highway design
  • Road safety assessments
  • Highway and junction capacity analysis
  • Parking assessments
  • Development of shared space and traffic calming schemes
  • Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
  • Traffic Regulation and Road Closure Orders
  • Section 106 and 278 Agreement negotiations
  • Expert witness evidence and general support for planning appeals and inquiries
  • Delivery Vehicle Management Plans
  • Construction Transport Management Plans

The ideal Transport Planner:

You should have a degree in either Transport Engineering, Geography, or Transport Planning. Experience in the field of development focussed transport planning. A member of a professional body, such as CIHT or ICE. Have excellent communication skills with a high standard work ethic and attention to detail and the ability to work proactively and use initiative.

Our Client is looking for a Transport Planner to join their team in Maidstone. You will be working in a supportive and collaborative team on a range of projects from small scale access assessments to the preparation of Transportation Assessments for strategic development sites.

You will be a key addition to their team, contributing to the continued development of the Transport Planning team and wider business.


The Transport Planner Role:

You will be involved in the following role responsibilities:

  • Develop transport infrastructure scheme designs using AutoCAD in line with industry guidance and standards
  • Undertake and oversee road network analysis.
  • Preparation of technical reports (Transportation Assessments, Access Appraisals, Travel Plans etc)

 

Candidate Specification:


You will be able to demonstrate the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Transport Planning or a related discipline
  • Experience in transport engineering and planning with demonstrable skills in all or some of the following:
  • Development planning
  • Traffic engineering
  • Working knowledge of Junctions 9, LINSIG, TRANSYT.
  • A working knowledge of Paramics Discovery would be beneficial
  • Infrastructure design applying SCOTS / DMRB roads design principles
  • Feasibility studies
  • Sustainable transport planning
  • A member of a relevant professional organisation (such as CIHT or ICE) ideally on route to incorporated or chartered status
  • Experience and working knowledge of AutoCAD software
  • MSc or further postgraduate qualifications related to transport planning or transport engineering would be beneficial
