Assistant Town Planner


I am partnering with a dynamic and independent town planning consultancy based in Essex. As an Assistant Town Planner, you will play a vital role in supporting this company’s team of experienced planners in delivering comprehensive planning services to their client. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about town planning and eager to contribute to the development and improvement of urban environments.


  1. Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on planning policies, regulations, and local development plans. Provide insightful analysis to support the decision-making process.
  2. Application Processing: Assist in the preparation, submission, and monitoring of planning applications. Ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and deadlines.
  3. Client Interaction: Liaise with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to gather information and maintain positive relationships. Keep clients informed about the progress of their projects.
  4. Report Writing: Prepare clear and concise planning reports, including site assessments, impact assessments, and feasibility studies.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with senior planners and other team members to contribute to the development and implementation of planning strategies.
  6. Site Visits: Conduct site visits to assess local conditions, understand project requirements, and identify potential challenges.
  7. Continued Professional Development: Stay informed about changes in planning legislation and industry trends. Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Town Planning or a related field.
  2. Knowledge of UK planning policies, regulations, and procedures.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Strong analytical and research abilities.
