I am currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join a successful, well-established civil and structural design practice in Swansea.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be involved with the preparation of detailed designs for private and adoptable drainage schemes for residential and commercial developments. Reporting to a Director, you will play a key role in assisting in the production of S278, S38, and S104 designs to gain technical approval from the relevant authorities. You will be required to liaise directly with clients, council officers, and design team members. Appropriate training will be provided through on-project learning and external training courses.

Essential Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience:
• A relevant Bachelor or Master's degree (in a subject such as Civil Engineering);
• A minimum of 2-3 years' workplace experience producing engineering and technical drawings for highway and drainage schemes;
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, PDS (or Civils 3D), and MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage;
• Excellent numeracy, oral communication, and written English skills;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Word and Excel);
• Creative and logical thinker, able to problem solve.

Civil Engineer Role Requirements:

Key skills:

  • Earthworks cut and fill concept and detailed modelling.

  • Non-major highways design and detailing and negotiation of works (Section 38, Section 278 works etc.).
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Civil3D, Causeway Flow software.
  • Private and Adoptable FW and SW drainage design and detailing (Section 104, Section 185 works etc. attenuation facilities pond, tanks swales etc., SUDS design and detailing)
  • Drainage hydraulic modelling using Microdrainage (Windes Package)

As you progress, more informed commercial awareness and client relationship management will be important elements to the role.


As your civil design team further grows, mentoring and checking the work of fellow engineers and technicians will be key.

Civil Engineer - Qualifications and Experience:
• A minimum of a BEng in Civil Engineering and 3+ years' UK design consultancy experience.
• Conversance with AutoCAD, Civil3D/PDS, Info/Microdrainage is a requirement, although there will be scope to improve your skills with them.
• Experience with Section Agreements 278, 38, 104 and 185.
• Hands-on approach, with a desire to remain engaged in design, project management and delivery.
• Good organisation, communication, and presentation skills.
